On Monday, April 8, 2024, a momentous celestial event will captivate the Hill Country as the region finds itself in the path of totality for the Great North American Eclipse. This extraordinary occurrence will plunge most areas into darkness for over four minutes.

As anticipation builds for this remarkable event, it's essential to ensure that everyone in our community is well-prepared for the experience. With this in mind, Bandera Electric Cooperative is taking proactive measures to prioritize the safety and convenience of its members and staff.

In preparation for the Eclipse, BEC has decided to close our lobbies on Monday, April 8th. This decision aims to mitigate traffic congestion and prioritize the well-being of our staff and members during this extraordinary event. However, please note that the lobby at our Llano location will remain open to serve our members.

To further enhance the experience for our members, BEC Fiber has generously sponsored additional eclipse glasses. These glasses will be available for pickup at BEC offices starting March 1, while supplies last. Each household membership is eligible to receive up to 8 glasses. Our primary concern is the safety of our membership, and these glasses will enable members to view the eclipse safely without risking their eyesight. If you received eclipse glasses during the previous event, they should still be usable, but please inspect the lenses for any scratches or damage. We encourage our members to be considerate of their neighbors and request only what they need.

In addition to providing eclipse glasses, BEC has prepared an informative guide for its members titled "Eclipse Guide for BEC Members." This comprehensive guide contains valuable information on how to safely experience the eclipse and make the most of this rare celestial phenomenon.

As the date of this celestial marvel approaches, the Hill Country is gearing up for an astronomical adventure like no other. Whether you're a seasoned stargazer or a novice skywatcher, the upcoming eclipse promises to leave a lasting impression on all who are fortunate enough to witness it from the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of something truly extraordinary in the skies over the Hill Country. Stay tuned to BEC communications for updates and additional information leading up to the eclipse. For inquiries or assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
