Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) brought celestial excitement to their membership throughout September and into October as they distributed over 6,000 eclipse glasses in anticipation of the awe-inspiring solar eclipse known as "The Ring of Fire." This celestial spectacle graced the skies on October 14, 2023, and BEC members, nonprofit organizations, and staff were well-prepared to witness it in all its glory.

BEC, true to its commitment to its community, handed out eclipse glasses to members and partners with the aim of spreading eclipse delight. Members were invited to stop by any of BEC's offices during regular business hours and were generously given up to eight glasses per account, ensuring that friends and family could share in the wonder of this extraordinary natural event.

The day of the eclipse dawned, and it was a picture-perfect day in the scenic Hill Country. With clear skies and the radiant sun, it was the ideal backdrop for witnessing "The Ring of Fire." BEC was delighted to be part of this celestial celebration, hoping that their members and the local community had a memorable time enjoying the eclipse together.

As a friendly reminder, those who received eclipse glasses from BEC can look forward to reusing them for the next total eclipse on Monday, April 8. However, it's essential to ensure that the glasses remain in good condition and are free from any defects before gazing at the sun.

BEC continues to demonstrate its dedication to its members and the community, not only by providing essential electricity services but also by enhancing the quality of life through shared experiences like witnessing celestial wonders. Stay connected with BEC for more exciting community initiatives and opportunities to come together in celebration of the extraordinary.
