In keeping with its mission to help support the communities it serves, Bandera Electric Cooperative recently awarded a $3,500 donation to the Bandera ISD Education Foundation.

“The money will go towards a sponsorship for Baubles and Boots, an event that helps kids get the education they need,” said Alyssa Cothran, vice president of the Bandera ISD Education Foundation.

Baubles and Boots will take place May 15, and is the foundation’s major fundraising event.

“The money raised at the event goes directly into the classrooms to fund projects and other innovative ideas that our school district cannot fund,” said Cothran.

The Bandera ISD Education Foundation is a volunteer, nonprofit corporation that solicits, manages and disburses contributions to enrich and enhance educational opportunities for staff and students in Bandera ISD that fall outside the scope of the district’s normal operating budget.

The foundation funds grants that give teachers and their students more opportunities in the classroom and more choices in how they learn, which sparks passion in students. According to the foundation, most teachers and administrators believe in the small-town core value of rallying together to help teachers and students in every way possible, which shows students that they have the support of their community. The education foundation provides a way to lend that support and encourages students and teachers in that small-town ideology.

Throughout the year, BEC makes many charitable contributions to qualifying nonprofit organizations within its service territory. More information about sponsorships, donations and grants can be found online at BanderaElectric.com/Donations.
