On Monday, November 21, Bandera Electric Cooperative donated $2,000 to the Spirit of Christmas Presents. The nonprofit organization provides presents to low-income families who reside in Bandera County to ensure every child has a gift to open on Christmas.

This year, Spirit of Christmas Presents will be facilitated at the Helping Hands event center in the Village of Hope.

“Our event center will turn into Santa’s Toyland,” said Jesse Parks, a Spirit of Christmas Presents volunteer. “We will fill the center with all-age toys and gifts for the children of Bandera County.”

From Wednesday, December 14, to Saturday, December 17, during 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. stations will be set up for qualifying participants to do their holiday shopping. After selecting an age-appropriate toy for their child, they’ll move to the packaging station to wrap the gift.

"Respectfully, we ask participants not to bring their children when they come," advised Parks. "We would like the gift to be a surprise.”

BEC continually strives to uphold the cooperative principle Concern for Community and is pleased to be able to bring some Christmas cheer to those who need assistance.
