Our Commitment to the Community

At Bandera Electric, we have a strong commitment and concern for our community. We live and work here … your community is our community and we are committed to making it a better place. At BEC, community involvement goes further than being a good corporate citizen. It means looking beyond our business to support other local businesses and communities. You are likely to see one or more of us in your child’s school teaching electrical safety, supporting community events or at your Chamber of Commerce meeting.

We take great pride in working for Bandera Electric Cooperative and serving you, our member-owners. We are faces you’ve known and partners you’ve trusted for more than 79 years.

Community Coat Drive

BEC is asking for your help this season. We will be collecting new and gently used coats to give to those in need. Designated donation boxes are set up at our office locations in Bandera, Boerne, Comfort and Leakey.

How to Give:
  • Through Friday, November 16, donate gently used or new coats to any of our office locations.
  • NO COAT IS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL—Coats of all sizes are needed, including those for infants and smaller children.
  • All donations will be given directly to those who need them most.
BEC is working with local nonprofit organizations to identify those in need of coats. Donations will not be handed off to resale shops or other organizations.

Powering Education School Supply Drive

You can help children in your local school district by giving them the tools they need to succeed. Drop off backpacks, school supplies or monetary donations to any of our four office locations between July 10 and August 17, 2018 to give back to local schools. All supplies and money donated will be distributed to schools in the BEC service territory to support children and families in #OurBEC community.
  • Donations dropped off at our Bandera office will go to Bandera ISD.
  • Donations dropped off at our Boerne office will go to Boerne ISD.
  • Donations dropped off at our Comfort office will go to Comfort ISD.

The following guidelines apply to members or organizations wishing to hang a banner.

  2. May be hung for one or two weeks at the Bandera location, or up to three weeks in the Utopia or Leakey locations.
  3. Reservations must be made 30-60 days prior to the requested hanging date. Reservations made outside of that window will not be accepted.
  4. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis.
  5. Must have single, intact lengths of rope at the top and bottom of the banner. Banners with ropes tied together will not be hung until broken ropes are replaced. Banners require 80 feet of new rope (preferrably nylon).

  7. Are typically hung/removed on Monday's as allowed by BEC crew schedules.
  8. Electrical outages and maintenance supersede banner requests and may delay the banner hanging. Reservations are NOT guaranteed and may change or be altered to accomodate service crew schedules or other conflicts.
  9. Must be dropped off by the Thursday prior to the scheduled hanging date. If the ropes are not intact, you may lose your reservation.
  10. Must be picked up WITHIN TWO WEEKS or it may be disposed of.  BEC is not responsible for lost or damaged banners, and will not store banners for organizations.
