New ServiceInitially, you will need to contact the Cooperative. We will need to gather some information to determine what fees apply. Depending on the situation, a deposit may be required. For new Members, a $25 membership fee will be added to your first bill. If a new power line has to be extended to your location for a new meter, you will have to pay an engineering fee (view our Line Extension policy to learn more). Construction of new service can take a number of weeks to complete. It is important Members who need line work (i.e. BEC must add a transformer, meter pole, etc.) contact the Cooperative as soon as possible due to heavy demand for new service locations, conflicts with other utilities, easements, permits, etc. Complete an Application and Agreement for Electric Service. If service is for an existing meter, provide us with the meter number (see Finding My Meter and Number). If service is for a new meter, you will also need to complete the Applicant's Service Data Sheet and provide us with a legal description of property where service is needed. The exact location where you want the meter should be clearly marked with a meter tag, which we can provide or you can download.
