Kurt Solis was appointed to the board in October 2011.
Mr. Solis graduated (1970) from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Solis retired as VP of International Sales & Technical Support for the Ruska Division of General Electric based in Houston. His 33-year tenure at Ruska Instrument Corporation included roles as Product Engineer, Chief Engineer (PE), and VP of Engineering which included Quality Control and Technical Services functions. Of note, Mr. Solis is a joint USA Patent holder awarded in early 1972 for a unique pressure sensing technology which is still manufactured today. As a manufacturer of world-renowned high-tech pressure metrology instrumentation, Mr. Solis travelled extensively both domestically and internationally, addressing technical requirements and applications for a variety of commercial and scientific enterprises.
Since his 2003 retirement from Ruska and subsequent move to Comfort with his spouse Shirley, a native of Comfort, he has been active in several Comfort community activities including the founding and establishment of the Comfort Health and Wellness Club, Chair of the Comfort Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Board member of the Comfort Area Foundation.
He and his wife Shirley (nee Pankratz) live in Comfort. They have three children and five grandchildren.
