District 2 Director
W. C. (Kip) Gary represents the members of BEC District 2 and was appointed to the BEC Board of Directors in August 2026. He and his wife, Shelly, have owned land in District 2 for 17 years. They joined BEC in 2012 and relocated to their new home in central Texas in 2019. They have two adult children and one grandchild.
Following graduation from Texas A&M in 1982, Mr. Gary was employed with ExxonMobil for 36 years. He began his career as a radio telecommunications engineer working in oil fields from South Texas to the North Slope of Alaska and, prior to retirement in 2019, he served as an Executive in the ExxonMobil Development Company, developing world-scale oil and gas facilities across multiple countries. More recently, Mr. Gary retired in 2024 from the role of President and CEO of the Brock Group, the second largest provider of specialty soft craft and mechanical services in North America.
Currently, in addition to serving on the BEC Board, Mr. Gary serves on the FIRST Robotics Executive Advisory Board and on the Texas A&M Electrical & Computing Engineering Advisory & Development Council. With strong interpersonal, leadership and business skills, together with cross cultural engaging and influencing skills, he provides consultation, advisory and teaching services to companies across many markets and industries.
Mr. Gary has a BS Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA Finance from the University of Houston. He and his wife, Shelly, reside on a hilltop overlooking Medina Lake in the Texas Hill Country west of San Antonio. Apart from professional activities, Mr. Gary enjoys travel with family and friends, working a small orchard on their property, beekeeping, woodworking projects, and family time boating at Medina Lake and Austin area lakes.
