As the seasons change, so do Bandera Electric Cooperative’s Time-Based Usage (TBU) rates. Beginning June 1, summer rates are officially in effect, offering members continued opportunities to manage their energy use and save on their electric bills.
Time-Based Usage is a voluntary rate program designed to help members take control of their energy costs. Unlike standard flat rates, TBU rates vary depending on the time of day and season. By shifting electricity use away from peak demand hours, members can reduce their monthly bills while supporting a more efficient energy system.
There are several simple ways to maximize savings during the summer months. Running appliances like washers and dryers during off-peak hours, adjusting your thermostat a few degrees higher during peak times, and cooling your home during lower-rate periods can all make a noticeable difference. Even small changes, such as preparing meals outside of peak hours, can add up over time.
By making thoughtful adjustments to your daily routine, you can lower your energy costs while helping reduce overall demand across the cooperative’s system.
