Every day, our team works behind the scenes to bring fast, reliable fiber internet to homes and businesses across the Texas Hill Country. Through our new Meet the Team Tuesday series, we're introducing the incredible people who help make that possible.
This week, we're featuring Margarito, one of our dedicated OSP Engineers.
As an OSP Engineer, Margarito plays an important role in helping new subscribers get connected. He is responsible for staking new member service requests, making the initial contact with members requesting new service, and guiding them through the entire process. He confirms whether a location is within BEC Fiber's service area and can receive fiber service. If a property falls outside the current service area, Margarito provides members with a cost estimate for service expansion.
In addition to working directly with members, Margarito serves as a resource for BEC Fiber's construction contractors by answering questions about the cooperative's fiber network and project scope. He also partners with BEC's Energy Services team to stake locations for the cooperative's Battery Storage Program.
One of Margarito's favorite parts of the job is the variety it offers.
"I enjoy that I split my time between the field and the office."
When he's not helping connect members to fiber internet, Margarito enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife. Together, they enjoy biking, hiking, and visiting state and national parks throughout the country.
A fun fact about Margarito? He's the oldest of seven children, and his family continues to grow. His parents now have 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
