As a nonprofit, member-owned organization, Bandera Electric Cooperative is led by a Board of Directors made up of nine members, each representing one of BEC’s nine districts. These directors play an important role in guiding the future of the cooperative and ensuring it continues to serve members effectively.

Serving on the Board of Directors is both a responsibility and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Directors manage the business and affairs of the cooperative.

Each year, three director positions are up for election, with each elected director serving a three-year term. In 2026, members will elect directors to represent Districts 1, 2, and 3. In accordance with BEC’s Bylaws, the current (incumbent) directors may be included on the ballot, along with any qualified members nominated by petition.

The nomination by petition process requires that any interested BEC member completes the application and collects at least 100 signatures from BEC members within their district.

Below is a general timeline to help guide you through the election process:

  • May 13, 2026 – Notification of Director Election
  • July 20, 2026 – Submission Deadline for Director Application Package
  • September 3, 2026 – Director Candidate Validation
  • September 18, 2026 – Director Election Opens
  • October 16, 2026 – Director Election Closes
  • October 17, 2026 – BEC’s Annual Meeting of the Membership
