At the heart of BEC's commitment to community giving is the BEC Foundation. Since its founding in 2018, the Foundation has distributed more than $406,500 to organizations within its seven-county service area, with a focus on education, safety and community well-being.
One of the simplest ways members help make this impact possible is through Operation Round Up. BEC members can choose to Round Up their monthly electric and/or fiber bill to the nearest whole dollar. For example, if your bill is $53.73, it will automatically round up to $54.00, with the additional 27 cents supporting the BEC Foundation. The average donation is just $6 per year per participating member, proving that small change can make a big difference.
Since the program began nearly a decade ago, BEC members have contributed more than $132,000 to local nonprofit organizations across the cooperative’s service territory.
Round Up funds are used to provide grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations through the BEC Foundation’s Community Grant Program, supporting projects that deliver vital services and directly benefit fellow BEC members.
