The BEC Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, a program of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, to support recovery efforts after the devastating July 4th flood.
The fund provides critical assistance to the communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort. Administered by the Community Foundation – a 501(c)(3) public charity – the fund directs resources to vetted organizations involved in rescue, relief and long-term recovery work.
“The BEC Foundation typically focuses on project-based grants under $10,000 within the Bandera Electric Cooperative service area,” said Toba Wright, BEC Foundation President. “But when we saw the heartbreaking impact of the July 4 flood, we knew we had to do more. Our hearts go out to all the people affected by the flood. We all were just wanting to help, and we are happy to have the opportunity to be able to help.”
“It’s ingrained in our company culture as part of our cooperative principles – Concern for Community – and we try to display that in everything we do, but especially in times of crisis.”
Wright also praised the strong community response following the flood.
“It’s so amazing seeing our community come together and help each other,” she said. “Many of our past BEC Foundation grant recipients are also stepping up – including Out of the Way Café, the 2025 winner of our Member Choice Contest, and Silver Sage, a previous grant recipient.”
The Community Foundation is working closely with local partners to ensure donations are distributed effectively and equitably to those most in need.
