Bandera Electric Cooperative employees spent time investing in the future this spring by participating in Career Day events at Medina High School, Bandera High School, Comfort Elementary School, Alkek Elementary School and Hill Country Elementary School.
Through interactive presentations and conversations with students, BEC Lineman, Fiber Technicians and Safety Representatives shared information about many career opportunities available within the cooperative and the utility industry. Students learned about careers in linework, safety, engineering and fiber technology, as well as the education and training required for each profession.
Career day events provide students with valuable exposure to a variety of professions and help them begin exploring potential career paths. BEC employees discussed the importance of developing strong technical skills, embracing lifelong learning, and pursuing opportunities that align with students’ interests and talents.
“Connecting with students and helping them understand the wide range of careers available in our industry is an important part of our commitment to the communities we serve,” said BEC’s Director of Marketing, Charity Huber. “These conversations help students see the possibilities that exist right here in their local communities.”
In addition to highlighting career opportunities, BEC employees shared information about the role electric cooperatives play in providing reliable service while supporting local communities.
By participating in career day events throughout the service area, BEC continues to demonstrate its commitment to education, workforce development, and the cooperative principle of Concern for Community.
