Fifteen employees from Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) recently dedicated their time and talents to support the summer hunger relief efforts of Hill Country Daily Bread on June 18, 2026.
The volunteer effort supported Hill Country Daily Bread's Summer Hunger Campaign, which works to address food insecurity across the Texas Hill Country by providing meals and resources to families in need. Summer can be especially challenging for many households that rely on school meal programs during the academic year, making community partnerships and volunteer support critical to the campaign's success.
During the volunteer day, BEC employees prepared food boxes and organized supplies to assist with distribution efforts that will help provide meals to children and families throughout the region during the summer break. The experience also gave employees a firsthand look at the important role local nonprofits play in supporting the communities BEC serves.
“It was amazing to see the great work that Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries does for the community. It warmed my heart to know children will not go hungry this summer because of all the hard work they do. As a BEC employee I was proud to volunteer and show our support and that BEC as a company encourages us to give back to the community,” expressed Jessica Taylor, BEC Human Resource Specialist.
Taylor's experience reflects BEC's ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of service and creating opportunities for employees to make a meaningful impact beyond delivering electricity and broadband services.
The volunteer day was part of BEC's Powering Our Community Volunteer Leave Program, which provides eligible employees with paid time to volunteer with qualifying nonprofit organizations throughout BEC's service area. The program encourages employee engagement and supports organizations that are making a difference across the communities BEC serves.
BEC remains committed to supporting local organizations that address critical community needs, including hunger relief, education, healthcare, and youth development. Through volunteerism, charitable giving, and community partnerships, BEC continues to invest in programs that improve the quality of life for residents across the Texas Hill Country.
