Most residential accounts are eligible to enroll in PrePay. Contact Member Relations for account requirements.
You can change back to regular service at any time. Application, any applicable fees and deposit requirements need to be met before service can be established.
Credits are monitored through daily billing. Notifications are sent by email, text or by phone when your balance falls below the specified limit.
Members converting an active account to PrePay may place any remaining balance on a debt payment plan.
Under this plan, 50% of future payments will go toward the outstanding balance and 50% will go toward future electricity purchases until the balance is paid off.
Balances on inactive/disconnected accounts must be paid in full before new/existing service can be restored.
If you do not prepay for additional electric service before your account balance reaches zero, BEC’s automatic meter-reading system will remotely disconnect your meter at 10:30 a.m. that day and it will remain disconnected until a payment is made and your balance reaches a minimum credit of $25. To restore service, your payment must bring your account balance to a minimum credit of $25. Once BEC receives your prepayment and the minimum balance is met, the meter will reconnect automatically.
