On Tuesday, March 30, Bandera Electric Cooperative presented a safety and bucket truck demonstration to grades pre-kindergarten through eight, and the career path of a lineman to grades nine through 12 at Utopia ISD.

“Utopia ISD is extremely grateful to Bandera Electric for visiting our pre-K through 12th graders yesterday,” said Ashleigh Kay, Utopia ISD counselor. “With COVID-19, our students have not been able to take normal field trips. When children learn electrical safety from the source, it is always more meaningful.”

“The high school students enjoyed hearing about the job opportunities available to them, the scholarships offered, and the Washington trip essay contest,” said Kay. “I heard numerous students discussing career options in the electric supply field after the presentation. BEC’s visit made an impact on our entire student body and we appreciate them investing in one of the many communities they serve.”

Concern for community is one of seven cooperative principals BEC was founded upon. BEC welcomes the opportunity to visit schools, libraries and local community events with a variety of educational presentations.
