BEC 83rd Annual Meeting a Success

Bandera Electric Cooperative held its 83rd Annual Meeting of the Membership virtually on Saturday, August 13. Nearly 350 members attended, with more than 37% being first-time attendees.
 
The regular business of the meeting was conducted, including reading the director election results for directors from districts seven, eight and nine. Interim District 7 Director Christopher “Chris” Blakemore was elected to full term, Michael D.T. Edwards was re-elected to District 8, and Kurt Solis was re-elected to District 9.
 
In presentations to the membership, BEC CEO Bill Hetherington highlighted the energy efficiency improvements offered through the Energy Saver program, and BEC Board Vice Chairman Jeremy Diller provided the invocation.
 
More than $8,000 in prizes and gift cards were distributed including the grand prize, a Samsung Smart Refrigerator valued at more than $3,000. Member, Robert Byrne from Comfort, won the grand prize and has announced he will be donating the refrigerator to the Comfort Golden Age Foundation in Comfort, Texas.
 
Of the more than 300 members surveyed after the meeting, 97% of members thought the meeting was good to excellent, and the average rating of the meeting format was 4.5 stars out of 5.
