Show Your Home Some Love

In February, you might find yourself thinking of ways to show your loved ones how much you appreciate them, so why not take the opportunity to give your home some extra attention as well? Your home is more than just a roof over your head—it should be a safe place you can retreat to comfortably with those you love. So give it some extra love this month with these five tips:

Give it a deep cleaning. Don’t just dust the ceiling fans and vacuum the refrigerator coils. Also let go of possessions you don’t need or want anymore. A clean and clutter-free house means you can work and play more safely and efficiently.

Do some home improvement projects. Simple changes like a fresh coat of paint or new window coverings can refresh your home’s look. Changes such as updating lightbulbs to LEDs, adding weatherstripping and caulk, upgrading to a programmable thermostat, and installing power strips can improve the energy efficiency of your home.

Make sure it’s protected. Check smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and ground-fault circuit interrupters to ensure proper functioning of these important safety features. Spend a little time reviewing your home’s insurance policy to make sure there are no gaps in your coverage.

Embrace the oddities. Focus on the things that make your home unique rather than fixating on what you don’t like.

Make happy memories. If you took a break from entertaining because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it might be safe again to consider having your friends and family over to make fond memories together.

Showing your home some love this month could make you happy, and with the right changes, your home will reciprocate your love with energy savings and cozy comfort.
