With donations from Boerne, BEC donates more than 250 coats to those in need

On Wednesday, January 16, employees from Bandera Electric Cooperative delivered 237 winter coats to the Silver Sage Community Center in Bandera.

BEC held a drive from October through December to collect coats from community members and employees at its offices in Bandera, Boerne, Comfort and Leakey that netted 262 coats of all sizes. Adults’ coats were given to Silver Sage to distribute, and 25 children’s coats will be taken to Leakey ISD next week.

After the January 16 coat distribution, Silver Sage volunteers will take coats to their clients throughout Bandera County who receive Meals on Wheels and food boxes in the coming week.

As a cooperative, BEC continues to uphold the principle of “concern for community” by donating coats, fans, other needed items and funds to organizations and people in its service territory throughout the year.
