2026 BEC District Elections
Bandera Electric Cooperativeâs annual Board of Directors election opens on September 18, 2026 at 8 AM and will close on October 16, 2026 at 11am. This year, elections will be held for Districts 1, 2, and 3. Districts 1 and 2 are uncontested, while District 3 will have two candidates on the ballot.
We want to remind all members that every BEC member has the right to vote in all three district elections, regardless of the district in which they reside. Your participation helps ensure fair and representative leadership for the entire cooperative.
As a member-owned cooperative, BEC thrives on democratic participation. Your vote affirms the integrity and transparency of our governance process. Even in uncontested elections, casting your vote is a powerful way to stay engaged and invested in your co-opâs direction.
By modernizing our election process, BEC is taking another step toward cost savings, convenience, and a stronger member experience. We thank you for your continued participation in our cooperativeâs democratic process.
Electronic Voting: No Paper Ballots
Please note: the election will use an electronic-only voting system this year. Paper ballots will not be mailed. On the morning of September 18, eligible members will receive an email containing a personalized link to access and cast their electronic ballot. Eligible members will also receive a postcard by mail with a personalized QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone to access the electronic ballot. Members can also access their ballot through their myBEC SmartHub account or the myBEC mobile app.

Everyone who receives electric service from BEC is a member-owner of the cooperative and is invited to take an active part in the business of the cooperative by attending the annual meeting. Each year, the CEO and chair of the board of directors present the annual report and plans of the cooperative. A full annual report will be provided in advance of the meeting, and a condensed version will be featured in the October edition of Texas Co-op Power magazine.
BEC will conduct the election of directors for districts 1, 2 and 3 by mail, email and online. The directors are members of the community concerned with the issues members face every day because they face them too. Please check your inbox and for a link to your ballot. Voting will begin in September. All members are eligible to vote for all directors and are encouraged to participate in the democratic cooperative process and in BECâs board elections. The annual meeting provides an excellent opportunity to participate in the business of the cooperative, learn about energy efficiency programs, fiber broadband and future cooperative goals. BEC is dedicated to providing members with safe, reliable and affordable electric and other related services and encourages all members to take part in helping BEC improve how that service is delivered.

The prize(s) that may be awarded to the eligible winner(s) are not transferable, redeemable for cash, or exchangeable for any other prize. All prizes must be redeemed in-person within 30 days of the Annual Meeting end date unless otherwise stated. If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified for any reason, BEC reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winnerâs prize, in its sole discretion. Each winner is solely responsible for paying any and all applicable taxes and duties related to the prize(s). For prize(s) valued at more than $600, winners must complete a 1099 before receiving their prize(s). Odds of winning depend upon the number of participants. Employees and directors of BEC and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related are not eligible to win. Eligible members must attend the Annual Meeting in person to be eligible for prizes drawn.
