2026 BEC District Elections

Voting opens Friday, September 18 at 8 a.m.

As a member-owned cooperative, Bandera Electric Cooperative is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors elected by BEC members. Each year, three director positions are up for election, with directors serving three-year terms.

In 2026, members will elect directors representing Districts 1, 2 and 3. The elections for Districts 1 and 2 are uncontested, while District 3 has two candidates on the ballot.

All eligible BEC members may vote in all three district elections, regardless of the district in which they reside.

Voting opens at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 18, and closes at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16. Election results will be announced during BEC’s 87th Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 17, at Enchanted Springs Ranch.

Meet the 2026 Board Candidates

The following BEC members will appear on the ballot for the 2026 Board of Directors election. Districts 1 and 2 are uncontested, while District 3 has two candidates seeking election.

Candidate biographies and additional information provided by each candidate will be available on the official electronic ballot beginning September 18. Members can review this information before making their selections and submitting their ballot.

How to Vote

The 2026 BEC Board of Directors election will use an electronic-only voting system. Paper ballots will not be mailed. Beginning September 18, eligible members can access their electronic ballot in three ways:

• Email: Look for an email on the morning of September 18 containing your personalized link to access and cast your ballot.
• Mail: Eligible members will receive a postcard with a personalized QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone to access the electronic ballot.
• SmartHub: Access your ballot through your myBEC SmartHub account or the myBEC mobile app.

Your personalized voting link or QR code is unique to your membership and provides secure access to your electronic ballot.

Why Your Vote Matters

Democratic member control is a fundamental part of the cooperative business model. Participating in BEC’s Board of Directors election gives members a direct voice in the cooperative’s governance.

Every eligible member may vote in all three district elections, including uncontested races. We encourage members to review the candidates and participate in the 2026 election.

Everyone who receives electric service from BEC is a member-owner of the cooperative and is invited to take an active part in the business of the cooperative by attending the annual meeting. Each year, the CEO and chair of the board of directors present the annual report and plans of the cooperative. A full annual report will be provided in advance of the meeting, and a condensed version will be featured in the October edition of Texas Co-op Power magazine.

The annual meeting provides an excellent opportunity to participate in the business of the cooperative, learn about energy efficiency programs, fiber broadband and future cooperative goals. BEC is dedicated to providing members with safe, reliable and affordable electric and other related services and encourages all members to take part in helping BEC improve how that service is delivered.

The prize(s) that may be awarded to the eligible winner(s) are not transferable, redeemable for cash, or exchangeable for any other prize. All prizes must be redeemed in-person within 30 days of the Annual Meeting end date unless otherwise stated. If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified for any reason, BEC reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winner’s prize, in its sole discretion. Each winner is solely responsible for paying any and all applicable taxes and duties related to the prize(s). For prize(s) valued at more than $600, winners must complete a 1099 before receiving their prize(s). Odds of winning depend upon the number of participants. Employees and directors of BEC and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related are not eligible to win. Eligible members must attend the Annual Meeting in person to be eligible for prizes drawn.
