Wind Works

Go Green! Sign up for Wind Works today!

By investing in another clean source of power, we are investing in our future. But perhaps most important, by taking a leadership role in supporting renewable energy, we are contributing to a healthier environment for this generation ... and the next.

BEC received an overwhelming response from our Members regarding purchasing renewable energy. At your request, we have purchased over 200% more wind energy than in years prior, resulting in a total of 20 million kilowatt-hours (kWh’s) being bought each year.

If I elect to participate, do I have to pay the Wind Works rate for my total monthly electric consumption?

Yes, if you choose to participate in Wind Works , the rate will be applied to your entire monthly metered kWh consumption.

Who can sign up for Wind Works?

All residential and small commercial Members are eligible to be part of the program.

Why is Wind Works more expensive?

Simply put, it costs much more to develop renewable energy than it does to build more traditional generation.

How will this affect my bill?

The Wind Works Rate is currently $0.10691. Multiply this rate by the amount of kWh you used last month plus the $22.50 availability charge to find out your bill, (not including taxes).

Is there a minimum time requirement for participating in Wind Works ?

No. There is no minimum time period that you must stay in the Wind Works. If you choose to discontinue participation in the Wind Works, you will be removed from the program within 30 days. You will not be eligible to go back on the program for 1 year.

Are there activation or termination fees related to the Wind Works ?

No. There are no additional fees; all you pay is your monthly electric bill at the Wind Works rate.

Once I sign up, how long will it take for the Wind Works to be applied to my electric consumption?

After notifying BEC that you wish to participate, the new Wind Works rate will go into effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle.
