Power Cost Increasing More and Short Supply Issue
Friday, Aug 01, 2008 3:33pm August, 2008 - The cost per kilowatt-hour of electricity is the highest it’s ever been for BEC members. This is due to a dramatic jump in the price BEC pays its power suppliers. BEC Members are paying just over $0.12 per kilowatt-hour. This comes at a time when power usage is higher than normal due to some very hot days. BEC is seeing some huge electric bills. Many folks tell BEC they have not changed a thing, yet their bills have taken a substantial increase – higher power cost and hotter temperatures are to blame. Plus, there is a serious supply issue coming, we do not have enough electricity generation in place to meet all our future needs. Unfortunately, there is no good national plan in place to solve the cost or supply issue. BEC is encouraging its Members to go to the website “Our Energy, Our Future” at: https://www.ourenergy.coop/. The website lays out the issues involved with cost and supply in a clear and accurate way. It also walks users through sending a note to national elected officials. |
