Co-op Bucket Truck Helps Extinguish Bandera Fire
Monday, Aug 27, 2007 2:26pm
BEC responded to a call from the Bandera Volunteer Fire department on August 27 to lend men and equipment to help battle a major fire that struck the historic downtown area. A bucket truck and operator was used to elevate a firefighter and hose so that a stream of water could be more effectively directed where it was needed. Other BEC employees disconnected power to affected areas and assisted in other ways.

“We were glad some of our linemen and bucket trucks could help the local fire department battle the blaze that struck historic downtown businesses,” said Arlen Williams, operations manager. “Concern for our community is a core principle at the co-op. Our thoughts and prayers are with the business owners and employees who were affected by this tragic fire.”

The blaze destroyed the Shoe Biz and the not-yet-opened Down on Main Street Emporium.  It also damaged the Old Spanish Trail restaurant that is located next door, but was separated by a fire wall. Thankfully no one was injured.
