BEC Refunding $857,000
Wednesday, Jan 03, 2007 2:05pm Bandera Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BEC), will be refunding in excess of $857,000 over the next three months. The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), which provides BEC with the bulk of its wholesale power, has determined that it collected more base rate electric revenue than was required to cover the cost of operating the electric side of its business in 2006. LCRA is refunding this to BEC. Since this was initially paid by you, our member-owners, it is only proper to return this refund to you. The refund will be spread to the total number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electric energy purchased by our members during the months of December, January and February. Therefore, we cannot determine exactly what the refund will be on a per kWh basis. However, it is estimated to be somewhere around $5.50 for every 1,000 kWh purchased. A separate line item reflecting this refund will appear on your December through February electric bills. The line item will be identified as “LCRA Base Revenue Refund.” BEC is here to deliver reasonably priced and reliable electric service to our member-owners. We are pleased to be able to refund this back to you. The directors and employees of BEC wish you a safe, happy and healthy New Year. |
