Heat Pump Rebate Program

Program Brief

As part of the 2008 Energy Efficiency program announced earlier in the year, BEC is beginning a high-efficiency existing home, heat-pump rebate program on June 1. The heat pump program will pay licensed heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors $200 for every 14 SEER or greater central heat pump they install for BEC members in EXISTING HOMES.

The program is primarily designed to encourage the installation of higher energy efficiency units which will ultimately reduce our members’ utility bills and lower the demand for electricity. Keep in mind this program is for 14 SEER or better HEAT PUMPS in EXISTING HOMES.

BEC sent a HVAC contractor letter describing the program Thursday, May 29. The letter asks HVAC dealers to send us a copy of their contractor’s license if they wish to participate.  We will develop a list of licensed HVAC contractors and publish it on our public website. BEC does not refer a Member to any specific contractor. If you have a question about the program contact BEC.

As energy prices continue to rise, BEC wants our Members to understand how to use electricity as efficiently as possible. This public website has a good collection of tools and suggestions for Members who want to improve their use of power (see Energy Tips) and lower your bill.
