Lee E. Boulden, BEC District 7 Director, Passed Away

Lee E. Boulden, who served as a director at Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) for over eleven years, passed away January 17, 2006. Boulden, age 79, was BEC’s District 7 Director, representing the members of the Lakehills area since 1994. He also served as the board’s Secretary-Treasurer for  the last eight years. Boulden is survived by Mary–his wife of 55 years, and two grown children.

Boulden was elected a BEC board member after retiring from CPS Energy of San Antonio and moving to the Medina Lake area. He retired from CPS Energy after more than 40 years of service in various positions. He was the manager of materials and transportation when he retired.

“I always enjoyed having Mr. Boulden on the board of directors,” said Bobby Waid, BEC’s CEO and general manager. “With his electric utility background, Lee could always be counted on to support projects that would improve the reliability of BEC’s electric system.”

“We will miss Lee working with us on the BEC board,” said Jerry Word, board president. “He represented the cooperative well and was highly respected. Lee will be hard to replace.”

Boulden grew up in Dumas, Arkansas and graduated from high school in 1943. He then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio operator, working on B-17’s, B-24’s and C-54’s. After his military duty he completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas in 1950.
