Brian Bartos Named BEC Manager of Engineering

Brian Bartos, P.E. recently began working at Bandera Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BEC) as the Manager of Engineering, a new position. Bartos will oversee current and future electric system planning and engineering needs.

Bartos comes to BEC as a professional engineer with a wealth of experience in the electric utility industry. He most recently served as a senior consultant with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). At ERCOT Bartos worked with standards, protocols, procedures and regulatory policy associated with maintaining and further improving Texas’ grid reliability.

He spent 19 years with Central & South West (CSW) and its various subsidiaries, followed by American Electric Power (AEP) after it bought out CSW. During his career with CSW/AEP he worked as a regional operations engineer, manager of system dispatch operations, and manager of distribution planning. After leaving AEP, Bartos was a consulting engineer working primarily with distribution cooperatives.

In addition, Bartos has participated in various state regulatory proceedings and has served on numerous industry committees including past chairmanship (1997-2000) of the Edison Electric Institute’s Task Force on Distributed Resources.

BEC is a fast growing electric cooperative located approximately 45 miles northwest of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country. The Cooperative serves over 28,000 meters with in excess of 4,000 miles of distribution line and almost 104 miles of transmission line.
